I've played piano for twenty-two years and have taught for six, both privately and in an arts program for disadvantaged youth, and I'm currently offering private piano lessons to students in the Colorado Springs area. I'm deeply passionate about piano, music and teaching, and am also an active musician currently working towards a series of music degrees. More than anything, I love helping students develop their skills as pianists, and love working with people who cherish music as much as I do.
If you're a beginner or intermediate musician (ages 10 to adult), I'd be happy to schedule a lesson with you. Lessons are $15 for 30 minutes, $22 for 45 minutes, and $30 for an hour, and I currently have times available on Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays. I teach from my home studio near UCCS using an electric piano, which allows for recorded playback, and routinely provide students with music from my personal collection.
Expectation-wise, I only ask that my students are committed to their development as musicians. I've found it's best if students are able to practice (at minimum) 30 minutes to an hour each day, or around 4-7 hours per week, if not more. As with all skills, practice is really the only way to see consistent improvement, and students who practice regularly are much more satisfied with their lessons. In return, my commitment is that I will consistently strive to match my student's needs as learners and musicians, provide unlimited guidance and encouragement, and make learning music interesting, fun, and rewarding. At the end of the day, my greatest hope is for my students to love piano as much as I do.
If you'd like to schedule a preliminary lesson, or ask any questions, please feel free to drop me an email at contactalexremy@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
